Out since July 10 and on heavy rotation since the promo came in a month before, the brand new  Shadow Of Jupiter album. It’s out on Ripple Music and is called: Bones. And it truly is bone rattling, that almost two minute long run up, that almost two minute long beginning of what’s about to happen. There is, for all intents and purposes, a definite generator vibe going as the title track Bones commences. Vocals seem to drift and almost carried away on the wind of swirling riffs. The guitars pulsate and make the air around you vibrate on an entirely different pitch…

It’s like a molten transmission from the edge of the desert, a thunderous pilgrimage through smoke, dust and endless sonic horizons, where everything is possible. Built on foundations of stoner and doom, it also implores psychedelia, blues, hardrock and classic heavy metal. It’s like a sun bleached bible of heavy rock, found beneath a burning sun and still smelling of the generator fuel that once leaked on it…
 
This is music with sand in its gears, blood on its fingers and fire in its veins. Bones does not simply move from song to song… Hell no. It drifts. It crawls. It runs. It explodes. It stretches massive riffs across wide open landscapes where crushing weight, meets mighty grooves and at certain times a cosmic atmosphere. Colin Peterson’s guitars carve out towering walls of sound, Scott Brakebill’s bass rolls like distant thunder, Adam Kazragys’ drums lock into deep, primal grooves, and John Piotrowski’s vocals rise like a weathered storyteller yelling from a high and weathered peak.

Weathered in a righteous way, from the psychedelic pull of the title track and Echo Chamber to the swaggering menace of Riot Dogs and Rumblestrip, the band take heavy music out past the city limits and into the badlands where the road disappears and the amps have a life of their own. Bones is a fever dream of desert heat, monstrous grooves, and psychedelic wreckage. It is a wild ride through the ghosts of heavy music’s past, steering straight into the unknown with a full tank of fuel, a blown speaker, and no intention of slowing down. Shadow Of Jupiter got places to be and we need to be there to take part of their exalted delivery of good and heavy music!
