Joop Konraad’s – Personal Top 20

Joop Konraad’s – Personal Top 20

It’s my Personal Top 20. It keeps amazing me the amount of great music released every year. Ever since Stoner HiVe started in 2009 the amount of great releases in our little Heavy Underground niche is stunning. For even though you can peruse my Personal Top 20 here… There are many more albums that I thoroughly loved! Soon, a lot of Personal Top 20 lists of all the Contributors will appear on the Doom Charts Page. And will share mine there as well. Here, it’s just the list. Ealdor Bealu – Psychic Forms

Ealdor Bealu – Psychic Forms
Metal Assault Records – 2022
Rock, Prog, Atmospheric, Desert, Stoner, Psych
Rated: *****

The digital album materialized somewhere in February of this year and has been spinning ever since. Together with a few others it immediately charmed its way into my heart, mind, and soul. We’re talking about Ealdor Bealu’s third album Psychic Forms. Another one of those albums that manages to bring you all that heavy rock we all love so dearly… For, of late, the modern prog, ethereal psych and atmospheric metal albums have been abundant and many of them seem to have been produced right there at the crossroads; soul signed away for that perfect record. Are we now immediately stating the Boise, Idaho four sold their soul and that Psychic Formsis a perfect record? Hell no, but perhaps in all that imperfection hides humanity, that longing for something we cannot name and a heart-breaking tranquility. For even though the tracks on Psychic Forms have their explosive moments; their gut-wrenching dark twists and turns… It is the overall arc of tranquility, natural and even delicate atmospheres that seem to engage you the most while tangling with all the booming riffs, surging drums and intense bass work. And then they have all the different vocals parts not soaring above it all; but subdued, almost scurrying underneath to give even more air to all the progressive and folk inspired psychedelic compositions. From the already amazing second record Spirit Of The Lonely Places to this; is another definite step towards the top of the mountain… Where do we go from there? Shall we step to the edge? Shall we spread our wings? This album is sure to make you fly...

Ealdor Bealu – Spirit Of The Lonely Places

Ealdor Bealu – Spirit Of The Lonely Places
Self released – 2019
Rock, Psych, Atmospheric, Prog
Rated: ****

The Boise, ID quartet Ealdor Bealu has delivered their second album Spirit Of The Lonely Places to follow what might be considered as a psychedelic heavy yet ambient masterpiece called Dark Water At The Foot Of The Mountain two years ago. Did that get enough attention around the globe? Probably not. Will this one? We sure hope so! Cause it is even more impressive than their debut release. We can still see them as a heavy psychedelic rock band. Definitely! And we can still state that the ambience, the feeling and the moods they evoke are most important. But the way in which they manage to paint their colorful and naturistic tapestries is simply amazing and has grown to gigantic proportions. Less solemn and precise than on their first album, they move more into a flowing and colorful dimension. Imagery of meandering rivers and rolling hills continue to spring into your mind. Dynamic be default and demanding your utmost attention the tracks soon nestle in your heart and mind. There is no escaping this Spirit and it will not make you lonely, but yet leave you appreciative and in awe…

Stoner HiVe’s Top 5 artists listened to last week…

Stoner HiVe’s
Top 5 artists listened to last week…

A Quick list before we head out into the cold and gray weather. Where did the summer go all of a sudden? Still getting the most spins is the awesome new Below The Deep record by Luna Sol! But there’s another Luna on the horizon! Luna And The Moonhouds, great band with a great record called Moonbase! Slow Burn Suicide by Eternal Black continues its round, it did not end up on the 8th position of the June Doom Charts for nothing! And the same could be stated for Beastwars! There IV album sits nice and cozy on the number 2 spot of the Doom Charts. And record we hope will start making the rounds is Spirit of The Lonely Places by Ealdor Bealu. Cause there is so much beauty hiding among the atmospheric heavy psych and downtuned smooth and sweetness. Be sure to check it out! Check’m all out!
