Last week we ended the Stoner HiVe Top 20 Countdown, with seven Personal Top 20 lists and the Doom Charts Top 100. This means we are ready to close the book on 2025. Don’t think we will stop listening to all those amazing albums though! Or mentioning new discoveries from last year. We love them too hard! But it’s time to also look forward. And we will probably run the first review later tonight. One that we will feature for a FULL ALBUM PREMIERE in a few weeks. Hope that peaks your interest! Grin... Cause it’s amazing! For now, go check out the ten listed above. They are there for a reason. They were listened to the most during the past week…

Onwards and Upwards in 2024!

Onwards and Upwards in 2024!

Best of wishes to each and everyone out there! Take care of yourself and the ones you love! Be good to the people you meet. It’s the most important thing you can do. And of course, promote all those bands and albums you love so dearly! May 2024 be as rockin’ as 2023 was! We know who produced the Number 1 album of 2023 according to all you lovely voters! Dozer! And their Drifting In The Endless Void album. Almost all of the lists that came in had Dozer somewhere on that list and many had it on one or their top five…

But of course, you all voted for many many many more albums. We won’t be sharing the total list of 789 albums, but we will share the Top 21 to 100. With Ruff Majik’s Elektrik Ram album on 21, my personal Number 1, missing only FOUR points to tie with Tidal Wave’s The Lord Knows on Number 20. And Purple Kong with their Blood Lightning album needing 340 points to do the same. Those are the 21 to 100 in spots, where quite a lot are tied as well. If we would not publish the ties separately on this list, we would need another 44 spots, and would bring Goat Explosion - Threatening Skies up as the Number 100 album. Yes, loads of albums ended up with the same amount of points below the Top 20, which leads me to deduct that the quality of the releases this year has been stunning! Amazing and awe-inspiring! But we’re sticking with the list below. And marvel, like we do at the end of every year, at the amount of amazing freaking heavy music release this year! The Doom Charts Top 100 of 2018

The Doom Charts Top 100 of 2018

"Making an album should be an honest experience. It shouldn’t be about trying to gauge where popular music is today; it should be about artistic expression and putting down what you want to put down." ~ Scott Weiland

I think that about sums up the Doom Charts intent as well. We are listeners and fans, some of us artists, and all of us are here for the sole purpose of sharing that artistic expression and feeling among like minded spirits. This year was an exceptional year for heavy music as we’re sure you all can agree to. We took every vote from each contributor throughout the year and tallied it up as if it was one big monthly chart. Statistically we had a total of 6,832 album votes during the year with 1,563 different albums voted on and listened to by the Doom Charts Team collectively. Its a wonderful thing how much music is out there and we hope the Doom Charts helped you find some killer albums throughout the year. Each and every album voted on meant something special to somebody at some time. Let us know what you think and lets hope 2019 brings us as much great new tunes we heard this year.

Welcome to Doom Charts, representing some of the finest bloggers, journalists, radio, podcasters and album reviewers from the doom-stoner-heavy underground around the globe.  Each month, our critics submit their picks for the best new doom, sludge metal, stoner-psychedelic and heavy rock albums.  The results are compiled and tabulated into the chart below.  This is a one-stop shop for the best new albums in the world…
