DOOM CHARTS
JUNE 2026
“Let’s get physical, physical
~ probably misheard Olivia Newton-John lyrics
I wanna get physical
Let’s get into physical
Let me hear your Doom Charts talk…”
Does the sun wean
our attention from all thats good and heavy? Hell no. Still, there’s no
denying that this season arrives hand in hand with holidays, festivals,
and time spent away from the daily grind. And that’s true for everyone,
right? Fewer Contributors. Fewer listeners. Even a few fewer releases
finding their way into the world. Well, only a few fewer… For as the
dust settled, there were still 193 albums that received
votes. Below, you can find the Top 40 from that remarkable pile, a list
packed with 39 brand-new heavy releases, each ready to leave its mark.
And pull you back in…
Most of them have a Bandcamp page. And
of course, there are plenty of other ways to stream these albums
online. I genuinely love that. The fact that we can discover incredible
music from every corner of the globe with just a few clicks is something
I’ll never take for granted. But here’s the thing: those albums aren’t
really mine. Not truly.
I love my Bandcamp collection, but I hope we all realize how fragile digital ownership really is. It can disappear in an instant—just like your digital PlayStation library. After all, we don’t actually own these purchases; we’re merely granted a license to access them for as long as the platform exists, or for as long as the people behind it decide we should. That’s why I treasure my vinyl records. My CDs. My posters. My art. And yes, even my physical games. I may not play most of them anymore, but I still value the simple fact that they’re mine. They carry memories, stories, and countless hours of joy that no revoked license can ever take away.
Sadly, it’s
becoming increasingly difficult for fans, collectors, and supporters to
keep doing what they love. Not only because of decisions like
PlayStation’s push away from ownership, but also because European buyers
are once again facing additional customs charges on imports from
outside the EU… Stacked on top of the already painful shipping costs. I
don’t ask for much. Hell, I hardly want anything at all. I simply want,
to be able, to spend my time, money, and energy supporting the music,
art, and creators I love. Because love feels just a little more real
when you can hold it in your hands. Yes… Love… Is so much better when
its physical!
