Mojo Waves – All the Right Parts Fit the Wrong Way

Mojo Waves – All the Right Parts Fit the Wrong Way
Macaroni Penguin Music – 2015
Rock, Hard, Garage, Punk, Psych, Stoner
Rated: ****

A few months ago the Finnish trio Mojo Waves released the first single 7x7 for their new album All The Right Parts Fit The Wrong Way. It promised a lot, just like the album title. And holy mother of God, do they deliver! We’ve been following these crazy cats since their first release Introducing Mojo Waves back in 2012. We saw them rise to great heights on the follow-up Enjoy, Don’t Destroy and become extremely deliriously majestic on Lo and Behold! And on the new album their manic music turns into a complete hysterical and frenzied state. They’re still highly in debt to the classic rock of the golden era’s but with a unique view of their own. Vastly energetic and chuck full of adrenaline the boys delve deeper into the speedy and punky parts of their already stampeding music this time around for most of the time. Which fit perfectly with the, as always, high pitched and ecstatic shrieks of singer Arttu. But who is that growling on Heartquake? Who is that dark color that offsets Arttu perfectly on that third track? And then there’s the In Little Pieces track which slows down and shows once again that the Mojo Waves can handle everything and will always remain unpredictable. But we will be ready, to ride with them on all of their big waves… And let’s hope this one never rolls back…

Stoner HiVe’s Quick Fire Friday

Stoner HiVe’s Quick Fire Friday

Here we are with the second edition of the Quick Fire Friday of 2015! The Stoner HiVe Quick Fire Friday segment is a feature of a handful of bands and only a small amount of words to help spread their musical prowess and our melodic belief…

Mojo Waves – 7x7

The out of control Mojo Waves from Finland are about to release their new album "All the Right Parts Fit The Wrong Way" in May 2015 via Macaroni Penguin Music. It's a follow up to their amazing five star album, Lo and Behold! Let’s hope the new album has as much big riffs, grooves, shrieking vocals, deep vibes, and most of all, catchy tunes to freak us out. And judging by the first single 7x7, this will surely be the case!

The Kahless Clone’s – An Endless Loop

Instrumental. There. That peeked some of your interest. The Kahless Clone is a project started by Vito Marchese of Novembers Doom fame. Long drawn out compositions that forges the vibe of dark metal with the sonic landscape and emotional buildups of post-rock. Severe and delicate and absolutely beautiful. So check out the An Endless Loop EP and forget about time...

Mares Of Diomedes - Mares Of Diomedes

Recorded at the Hive studios in Kilcoole Ireland. Well, that’s enough for us at the HiVe to pay attention. Mares of Diomedes is a duo. A crusty metal and sludge duo that deliver four gutter punches. Two brothers that will get your mind in a frenzy and have you milling around like a madman! Owyeah!

Shroud Eater – Face The Master

Stoner sludge titans! That’s the moniker that stuck to Shroud Eater. And it serves them right! Cause it serves them just! Just listen to the new two track EP Face The Master and you know there is nothing bigger than this. Ugly, grandiose and brutal. A titan having a drunken brawl and stomping his enemies!

Mojo Waves – Lo and Behold!

Mojo Waves – Lo and Behold!
Self released – 2013
Rock, Seventies, Psych, Garage, Stoner
Rated: *****

Mojo Waves are still the three same guys from Finland and they still produce that free-range psychedelic garage rock that we have come to love when they put out their first two EP’s. So what’s new? Well; apparently the guys met the devil somewhere and decided to sell their souls. The level of commitment and growth displayed on their new record Lo and Behold! is gigantic. Still as manic as ever but with a proficiency that borders on insanity we weave through eight garagedelic tracks that blow you away on every turn taken. A power trio that knows exactly where their strengths lie and explore every facet available while appearing to almost loose control. Those high-pitched vocals drag you along on a runaway roller coaster ride through the ages made up out of towering and speedy drums as well as a soaring bass that sometimes delivers the funk and sometimes the groove. Lo and Behold! is a regular musical delirium and one you should experience on a regular basis!

Mojo Waves – Enjoy, Don’t Destroy

Mojo Waves – Enjoy, Don’t Destroy
Self released – 2012
Rock, Free, Seventies, Psychedelica, Garage
Rated: *****

After the Finnish trio Mojo Waves introduced themselves with their impressive first EP called Introducing Mojo Waves all the way back in March of 2012 they immediately got to work on the follow-up. And in July of that same crazy year Enjoy, Don’t Destroy was released. Another three-song collection featuring the same wild and twisted sounds that we’ve come to love in those few dangerous months that came before. And I doubt the guys changed much in the way they work or did much different stuff then what they did three months before; but they suddenly sound much more mature and their production skills have risen to incredible heights. The shrieks and wails are still there, and so are the majestic grooves, heavy rock out’s and stampeding thunderous sounds. But this time those aspects are introduced into a definite structured song. Organized wild and savage rock that rolls over in massive waves of pure enchanting Mojo. Double U, O Double U! WOW!

The drums start off with this crazy and hazy ringing and then the guitar starts thundering over it like a mad stampede until it slows down to a groovy drag and the singer explodes like a high energy, high pitched crazy Jack White creature shrieking and howling at the moon. Introducing Mojo Waves is the first three song EP from the Finnish trio logically called Mojo Waves. The guys had been playing together in various projects for about three years before the Mojo Waves were officially formed in 2011. And this is clearly audible; the unpredictable and slightly insane qualities are offset by four instruments that know how to work together and merge into one wicked psychedelic river of condensed noise. This is some impressive stuff. Ultimate free rock: fun, entertaining and a bit weird. And that’s just how we like it!
