It had its merits, but I wasn’t immediately sold on that debut release In Roundness by Mountain Of Misery back in 2023. Fear and trepidation might also have been a factor. What would this mean for the amazing Spaceslug? But as we all know, Spaceslug released their damn fine Out Of Water album a year ago and are going relentlessly forward. And so is this other project by Spaceslug drummer and vocalist Kamil Ziółkowski. Mountain Of Misery ’s fourth release is here, and the steady upwards march is real. An eight track grunge toned, psychedelic doom adventure that breathes atmosphere. Inhaling shoegazing moments and exhaling thunderous riffs, drawing endless vistas with charcoal and slowly tattooing its qualities into your heart…

Opening with some quite familiar desert stoner licks, the album continues much more doom and further on, it takes you on a dark melancholic journey. Accompanying you on your trek is a desperate voice that leads you deeper and deeper into loneliness and sorrow. Beware of the bottomless, swirl into dreariness, grief, bleakness and misery. Founded this year, Mountain Of Misery is a new project from the drummer/vocalist of Spaceslug (also drums in O.D.R.A and Palm Desert). And on December 1st, a brand-new single, featuring “Anthem Of Sadness” and “Tears Are So Tired” is added as a supplement to complete the different physical releases.
