Stoner HiVe’s
Top 5 Most Listened To Albums Last Week…

We know, it's Sunday. We normally post the Most Listened Top 5 on a Monday. But due to work we do not have time tomorrow. Or tuesday... So we do it today! Ledfoot and his magical White Crow album has been spinning relentlessly. And we sincerely hope you crazies out there, check it out, cause it is insanely good. Gothic blues, atavistic blues, the blues of yore done right! Phe! The Glooming Dawn comes out next week. Which would have been a release gig party, but due to the crisis had to be cancelled. But it will still go live next week! Keep an eye on their bandcamp site! Häxan stormed the Doom Charts and stormed around the warroom. What a record! Love Like Machines by The Heavy Eyes, once again The Heavy Eyes guys deliver the golden goods! Heavy psychedelic blues that just immediately captures your heart and soul. And the Woorms trio deliver something equally stunning but totally different with their album Twitching, As Prey. A must listen album if you ever loved anything about sludge metal. Must listen! But then again, they all are! So check'm out! Check'm all out!

Stoner HiVe’s Top 5 Most Listened To Albums Last Week…

Stoner HiVe’s
Top 5 Most Listened To Albums Last Week…

The struggle continues. And it looks like it will for quite some time. But we’re gonna just go on with the Stoner HiVe show as much as possible. Even though, while most have been able to take things slower and work from home, part of mine will take me to the streets and towards all people who need help. Delivering medicine to everyone’s doorstep. Which will probably mean, HiVe time shall be limited. As it will for Madman Tony Maim, the man is on the forefront of the disease as he works in the Hospital. Much love and respect goes out to all those who work in Hospitals across the globe and to our very own Madman in special. Thanks and keep doing that magic you do! And now, we continue on with the telegram style tam tam update of the past week. Stoner HiVe’s smoke signals of the most played Top 5 records. On heavy rotation has been the new Glooming Dawn record by Phe, which shall be released on April 11th. We saw the pretty sweet drawn video for The Lion & the Snake; but the record is much better! Languid fuzz and steamy stoner, straight from the desert. Get ready for Phe! And Jegulja we ofcourse mentioned last Wednesday, their instrumental Exit Sandman record continues on where Darkest Light left us, wanting for more. And this is more on every level! So much groove, so many layers, prog, psych and everything so intensely heavy! Stunning! And yes, I Saw The Deep and their Vimana release will not stop rotating here. A gigantic slab of doom, progressive and psychedelic, deep sci-fi rock, which features power rock drumming with metal riffing and grungy vocals. A cathedral of heaviness if ever there was one! Omens, by Elder, out through Armageddon Records and Stickman Records, continues their very own experimentation and exploration of all the psychedelic genres to an incredible degree. We’ve been loving every Elder release since the HiVe got started, and this will definitely be a new one to adore and treasure. Out next month, it will have you travel through time to distant futures and flow along the sands of time and the magnetic currents. Wild and wonderful once more! The Secret Of Our Time is brought to us by Siena Root. And flows perfectly along the Elder record, giving us another side of the society medal. Out on MIG, the seventh studio release of the Swedes, celebrates all the good stuff from the golden days of rock. One can call it retro or you can call it pure solid gold. Either way, this is one that will play extremely loud and will have you dance around the room, the yard or the attic! Whatever your preference! As long as it is in your house and alone! But since all who listen will be doing it, you will not really be alone. We are with you! Dancing that same weird dance! Check’m out! Check’m all out!

Another telegram style tam tam update of the past week before we head out into the sickly world! Cause the world is sick. Has been for a while. On many levels. But it is now visible to all. The plague is upon us. We will all sneeze ourselves to death. It’s still hard to believe that a new strain of the flu can already disrupt human society and the world to such a degree. What if something even more deadly or contagious hits us? Ye gods! I think everyone should start thinking about heaving a vegetable garden instead of flowers. Might be the wise thing to do… But of course in a few months time this will all have passed and we all will think fondly back at the time when the entire world almost grinded to a halt… We’ll see… But let’s not go the route of all media and start blabbing the same things over and over about the disease. Let’s focus on the things that will get us through this period! Awesome freaking music!! DeWolff streamed a show they did for an empty venue because their tour got cancelled. In my hometown there will be the Isolation Sessions. Featuring bands from the  region, like An Evening With Knives, who are now, like DeWolff unable to tour for their just released album. Those Isolation Sessions will be streamed and will become available for pay what you want purchase on Bandcamp. But that’s the future! The past week was filled with other stuff. We’ve have become totally addicted to I Saw The Deep. We mentioned their Vimana release last Friday on the Quick Fire Friday round and man, the release has rocked me to my core! It’s been on repeat the entire weekend. A gigantic slab of doom, progressive and psychedelic, deep sci-fi rock, which features power rock drumming with metal riffing and grungy vocals. A cathedral of heaviness if ever there was one! Lord Loud’s new album Timid Beast won’t be released till somewhere around September. But we have been blessed by King Volume Records and Kozmik Artifactz to get it earlier. Fuzzy, gritty garage that ticks all the right boxes, from proto to punk and from psych to power! One to look forward to! We had the pleasure to speak with Tim ‘Tipover’ Vanhamel when he released his Sciencing album in 2017. And now he’s already back with another Millionaire release Applz NOT Applz record. (Where’s the ‘not’ sign in ascii codes?) Out on Unday Records its filled with more  earworms and catchy melodies than one can handle, especially since it always turns around on itself and become weird or even insane. And those earworms, those melodies that will stick with you throughout the day do that more and more with every new listening session. Wor Pigs from France released Beasts and it is righteous animal indeed. Heavy rock! Stoner and psychedelic in abundance, bluesy and enthralling. It drags you along on an adventure from those first few notes. There is no escape! And it will get rid of the pain of being a man. And when you’re looking for some tunes to cruise with? To rev up the engine and go out looking for trouble? Check out The Goners new release Good Mourning. The Five from Sweden have delivered a tasty garage and hardrock album that has no trouble showing us all some class. Yes, we are the squares now. And we shall have to pony up the dough, they immediately give you a whiff of something you might never even knew existed. They ride and raid like marauding cavalry, and sound like they’ve punched their way out of a hundred rumbles, stayed alive with only their boots and their fists. Ah, these righteous dudes, they love to screw it on and we love to get loose! So, you’d better go and check’m out! You know you have all the time in the world now! Check’m out! Check’m all out!

Stoner HiVe’s Top 5 Most Listened To Albums Last Week…

Stoner HiVe’s
Top 5 Most Listened To Albums Last Week…

Sometimes we have a few minutes left before heading out the door to do a sort of telegram style, tam tam, smoke signals view of that Top 5 Most Listened To Albums list of the Last Week. And today is such a day! A good start of the week after a great weekend; that started with the Sense Of Gravity album release by An Evening With Knives in de Effenaar. The trio rocked the house and showed once again the amazing amount of progress the three have gone through. Good to begin with back when they started back around 2014; but now damn freaking great! A must see band; should they come around to your neighborhood! But before that start of the weekend Mandala Of Fear by Huntsmen got the most spins by far. Out on Prosthetic Records the record boasts 13 metal tracks that all maneuver expertly between stoner, doom and sludge. But what’s sets these guy apart is their use of Americana influences, intense atmospheric elements and all the maximum diversity you can need! One king hell of a record! The new self-titled Brant Bjork album is much needed return to form! To his old form even! Cause we loved the reissue of Jalamanta, but couldn’t do much with Jacoozzi. Out on Heavy Psych Sounds this is the sound we love from Brant! And with all the re-releases of earlier albums to come; it’s gonna be one kick ass Brant year! We’ve been seeing new Oliveri releases the past few months. Fuck It! Pretty decent. Shooters Bible, new versions of Hell Comes To Your Heart songs, not really necessary? And then there’s N.O. Hits At All Vol.666; a new compilation of tracks the man participated with. All out on Heavy Psych Sounds, and all needed for the collection if you love that bald freak as much as we do! And how about that Ummon album by Slift? Out on Stolen Body Records it seems to possess the perfect combination of heavy psychedelic rock with kraut and space elements. And then it just continues to conquer more cosmic territory, crossing into all sorts of genres just to get a foothold in. Amazing album from start to finish! And we’ve listened to an amazing albums more but the one holding the lantern at Number 5 is Galactic Tyrannosaur and their Voyager album. Doom metal from Kentucky that shines a light on a different side of the cosmic side, the cosmic noise! Instrumental, atmospheric, sludgy, doomy and one hell of an adventure! We’ll keep spinning all these a lot! This, week, next week and the for the rest of time!

Check’m out! Check’m all out!

Stoner HiVe’s
Top 5 artists listened to last week…

It is Monday once again. And we’re quickly approaching the end of 2019! Which means in a few weeks time we shall start the Stoner HiVe Top 20 Countdown once again. This year, marks ten years of HiVe time! Which in many ways is just a number but ofcourse also counts as a real and definite marker. Ten years ago the HiVe started in honor of all the records released through the year. And so, all you lovely freaks out there could give their two cents about which record moved you the most. Here’s us hoping you guys will go ahead and send your list of favorite albums to us once again, so we might make this 10 year anniversary of the Top 20 Countdown a grand and righteous one! As for the albums we listened to the most during the past week. Well, it’s riddled with albums that we listened to due to the interviews we had. Hence, Stef Kamil Carlens and Colin Blunstone. And it’s logical Kamchata’s Hoodoo Lightning is still up there, cause it is one hell of an album once again! It might even rival their The Search Goes On record… Virtual Time from Italy released multiple albums this year and both of them, The Circle and Pictures are part of a larger project and it all sounds damn wonderful! So, go ahead and check’m out! Check’m all out! Cause it is the Time Of The Season… Shit, it always is..

During the heatwave, everything took a backseat. Even though I thoroughly love the heat, it does become a bit absurd when the temperature keeps hitting the 40 degrees and the house warms up to 30 or even more. A one or two hot sweaty nights are doable, but if they’re like that every night, it starts to get very ugly… We listened to some music, definitely, but dug up a lot of old favorites. The great ones from yore… Kyuss ofcourse. When the desert heat is upon us, one has to play Kyuss… But as for new releases: Galactic Shenanigans by Space Raptor worked nicely! Out since May, the German quartet definitely delivered some good instrumental psychedelic heaviness! Another German outfit that got quite some spins was the new The Imperial Mustard slab of kraut rock called You. Out on DHU Records is the new The Red Widows album, stoner doom, dusty and dark, named Fuzzifixion. Orbiter, the Florida USA one, releases Southern Failures! Man, that became a quick favorite! It’s stoner, it’s sludge, it’s doom, it’s punk and it’s Sabbath and it’s so much more! Started spinning the new Blood Year by Russian Circles only yesterday, but then quickly could not get enough! Hottdamn, they outdid themselves there and it will be spinning for a long time come! So, go on, check’m out, check’m all out! Cause they kick ass!

A Quick list before we head out into the cold and gray weather. Where did the summer go all of a sudden? Still getting the most spins is the awesome new Below The Deep record by Luna Sol! But there’s another Luna on the horizon! Luna And The Moonhouds, great band with a great record called Moonbase! Slow Burn Suicide by Eternal Black continues its round, it did not end up on the 8th position of the June Doom Charts for nothing! And the same could be stated for Beastwars! There IV album sits nice and cozy on the number 2 spot of the Doom Charts. And record we hope will start making the rounds is Spirit of The Lonely Places by Ealdor Bealu. Cause there is so much beauty hiding among the atmospheric heavy psych and downtuned smooth and sweetness. Be sure to check it out! Check’m all out!

Sorry my fellow music fiends! Still in full fucked up work mode. No rest for the wicked! So no time to actually write a few worthwhile lines about the albums we listened to the most last week! But before to check’m all out and we hope to be able to do something soon… But we still have Reek of STOOM holding guard for us all! Ola amigo’s! Como estas? The sun is shining over here and the weather is looking good! As we are about to head out and get some rent-paying-jobs done, we quickly run down the most listened to albums of the past week. For instance, 3 Chord Propaganda! Madman Tony Maim’s very own musical outlet! He screams his weird poetic laughter at you across punky stoner and grungy hardcore! Check out his DEad Poet Tapes Vol.1! Which we also mention in the post above this one! Per Wiberg has given us his first solo record! The man from bands like Opeth, Kamchatka and many more is on fire on his very own Head Without Eyes album. Out on Despotz Records, it moves through a realm very akin to those two bands yet also more progressive here, spacey there or cinematic heavy! It’s simply freaking amazing! Them Bulls! Them Bulls release their All That Glitter record on their own this time around. Sending out Queens Of The Stone Age and Palm Desert scene vibes across the globe. The record has also been mastered by Mathias Schneeberger and brings us back to the days when QOTSA first started taking over the world. Damn fine catchy robot, desert and stoner! Bombay Groovy! When Reek of STOOM starts raving about a certain band, we sit up, pay attention and start listening. And then we keep on listening and listening! “The level of musicianship on display here is simply mind-boggling and the True fusion of East meets West is both evident and executed with a vigor and depth these old ears haven't heard in too - long a time.” Right on Reek! Right on! Seven Hundredth Unicorn and their Culture of Fear record will blow your ears off! A doom, sludge, black, death, noise, grind, punk, metal duo, yes duo, that will destroy all your sensibilities and will brutally slay every little last bit of hope you might retain. This will either relieve all your angst and anxieties or it will double it! No middle ground! Damn, outright heavy violence! Check it out! Check’m all out!

Stoner HiVe’s
Top 5 artists listened to last week…

The last few days of silence were due to the fact that my father in law got decorated by the King. So, there was much to prepare for the secret festivities. And ofcourse during those days we did not listen to anything new. But before we went off, clad in Orange and bearing gifts abundant, we had quite a spell of great albums, soon to be released, released recently and released a bit earlier. We had Little Steven’s new album Summer of Sorcery on repeat due to an interview. Which is good, great blues married to rock and soul and funk and a whole lot more! Excellent tunes for the approaching summer! Pristine’s album Road Back To Ruin out on Nuclear Blast has been on heavy rotation. Steamy classic hardrock injected with the blues and the spirit of the golden age. Subtle, the new Lo-Pan, soon to be released on Aqualamb Records has been on heavy rotation for a while. Which is only logical for Lo-Pan are the only cats that can really marry those easy to the ear melodies from hardrock with stoner trucking and a spacious groove. Subtle is definitely subtle and all the intricate layers give their new release something gigantic. Amazing record! Tempel is the new Kvelertak-drummer vehicle and seems to continue on where the other band signs off. The melody that suddenly appears when you get used to the hardcore sound is beautiful. Tempel by Tempel, out on PIAS. And Brutus we already mentioned, Nest (out on Hassle Records) will bash and grate and whip you into a frenzy! So, check it out! Check’m all out!

Stoner HiVe’s
Top 5 artists listened to last week…

Morning everyone. It’s Monday! And at Stoner HiVe we usually try  to put together a quick list of the most listened to albums of the past week. We limit it to five even though there is a multitude of other records that got a few spins. Well, here’s the rundown. The Beast You Are might very well be the best Big Business record to date! Out on Gold Metal Records and Joyful Noise Recordings, there are so many different approaches on can take to this album. Intricate weirdness and twisted heaviness! Reek of STOOM tipped us about the Australian five-piece Giant Dwarf! What a freaking sweet fuzzy desert and stoner rock record. That went on repeat very quickly! Hell yeah! Sophomore album Dos(e) by Black Medicine out on Baby Gas Mask Records has this very different groove going on. Highly addictive once you’ve gotten a dose in ya! And you’d better, cause some medicine should be taken on a daily basis! And since all of you read up on the HiVe every day, (coughcough) you’ve already seen Hey Satan and their Orange Moon album come up. Featuring ten hard rocking, stoner trucking tracks that are comprised out of twin guitars and a stampeding crazy drummer. It’s a wild release once again by Cold Smoke Records! Last but certainly not least, Cracked Machine! The Call Of The Void comes out on PsyKa Records and the seven heavy psychedelic tracks will quickly make you turn on and tune in! Mostly instrumental and completely amazing! Check it out! Check’m all out!
