Stoner HiVe’s Quick Fire Friday

Stoner HiVe’s Quick Fire Friday

Before we head off to Krach Am Bach Festival in Beelen, Germany, we wanted to do a very quick Quick Fire Friday round! And we know… All those releases, singles, ep’s, albums, they are worth way more of our time! But you know how it is… There is so much out there, so much good and heavy stuff, and we just simply cannot ever do it all justice. So here it is. Another Stoner HiVe Quick Fire Friday! And it burns hot like molten lava!

Lammping – Desert On The Keel

The Toronto Lammping four are back! A new album is on the horizon! But for now, and since June actually, we have Desert On The Keel, the first of a series of stand-alone singles they're putting out this summer! Giving us once again that The Beta Band feel, turned stoner, turned psych and the most majestic sideways head nod you will experience!

Iron & Stone – Mountain & Waters

Five piece Iron & Stone from Hildesheim, Germany released their new four track EP Mountain & Waters back in June and everyone should check it out, if you haven’t already. It is the first EP in a series of three and since you can’t stop what’s coming, you need to dive into the mountain and climb the waters. Good, honest, heavy stonerrock and fuzz with a punk spirit! Indeed, low desert punks from the heart of Germany!

 Auerbode – Auerbode

Auerbode is a doomgaze project by Tannhauser Orchestra frontman Erick de Deyn. Doomgaze, staring into the abyss until the abyss winks at you. But before you think this is going to be some dark and twisted music, let me set you straight. The self-titled fivetrack debut is actually pretty, light, uplifting, post-rock, post-metal, music with a serious undercurrent and equally significant themes. It’s good and it’s out on the Murphy Albums label… Cause you know… Whatever can go wrong…

Harry Cloud – You’ll Never Fix This

A new EP by the master of weird, insane and bonkers music and art is back! Harry Cloud never went anywhere, but with four track You’ll Never Fix This, he’s tried and fix some of his old compositions. Indeed, the four tracks were all recorded in earlier years and were never in need of any fixing, but hey, the bizarre rock is now everybody’s kit and kitten caboodle to grab through Kitten Robot Records. And you can also just watch the video’s and be sure to have a nightmare or two…

Grevens Tid – Upplands Väsby

Grevens Tid is a middle-aged hard rock band that sings eerie songs in Swedish. We were formed out of covid boredom in 2020 and try to sound a bit like a mix between the Sad Wings of Destiny album and an 18-wheeler in snow smoke between Kiruna and far away. Well, what more is there to say? Well, let’s state that we dig that seventies hard rock vibe on their first single Upplands Väsby. And well, the song, which is a tribute to "Sweden´s Birmingham" features Gunnar "Mic" Michaeli of Europe - born and raised in Upplands Väsby! And well, let’s see what else they will release… On their debut album Folkhemskt, which will be out… Hopefully soon…

 Teen Mortgage – Valley

Valley, the final track of the Teen Mortgage EP Smoked, which we mentioned back in December 2021, has gotten a video treatment. And since we love Teen Mortgage and the King Pizza Records label on which it was released, we reckoned we should mention the video… Punk, surf, stoner, garage, noise and enough metal to start seeing things double!

Black Hatch – One More Bite

Black Hatch – One More Bite
King Pizza Records – 2021
Rock, Punk, Garage, Stoner
Rated: ****

Scuzzy, fuzzy, crunchy and you’ve got the munchies, I guess you need One More Bite! It’s the fast paced, high energy, extreme voltage, 11-track record by New Hampshire quartet Black Hatch. It’s a frenzied punk assault on your senses, a feverish garage raid on your soul and a furious stoner invasion into your heart. Cause these cats whirl you around with insane speed and make it all go off like a frag grenade. Fractured but whole you will scramble around looking for your arse and your elbow and jump and dance and windmill around like an insaniac! Some will have a psychotic reaction listening to these 27 minutes of rattling noise; and those that don’t will be freaking jealous! Ravenously enthusiastic and ferociously fine! One More Bite is all it takes to make you doing Black Hatch main line!

Stoner HiVe’s Quick Fire Friday

Stoner HiVe’s Quick Fire Friday

Across the pond the crazies are whooping it up at Psycho Las Vegas, but we shall do our own thing at the neat little Nirwana Tuinfeest. Not as big, but certainly as crazy! So, since we have to get over there as soon as possible we quickly fire off another round of the Stoner HiVe Quick Fire Friday! We know, we know, the albums and bands deserve more. But we just simple cannot ever do it all justice. But hey, it’s the Stoner HiVe Quick Fire Friday. And its burns hot like molten lava!

Urchin – Cavalcade Past a Forbearing Ruin

One of the bands that started the ruckus in Las Vegas last night was Urchin. The two-piece blackened sludgy doom metal released a new album earlier this month called Cavalcade Past a Forbearing Ruin. I believe they played poolside and I’m pretty sure the water would have turned to black mud as the waves of Urchin paranoia struck out across the Las Vegas battlefield…

The Mad Doctors – Yuengling Malmsteen

Do you remember us raving our asses off about The Mad Doctors and their No Waves, Just Sharks release? It was our soundtrack to every backyard BBQ and beach outing of the past months. Well, the fella’s are now releasing a split seven inch with Heavy Traffic. Which can be ordered here and listened to here. Or the other way around. Whichever way you do it, just do it. Majestic psychedelic surfing and fuzzy punk rocking guaranteed!

Marvelous Liars – Marvelous Liars

Power rock, stoner pop and everything in between. The new self-titled album by Marvelous Liars has it all. Borrowing some of the desert heat to spice up their highly catchy rock ‘n roll the three-piece is fishing in the great pond with more hooks and bait then the most expert of fishermen. And guess what, they have you biting and snapping for their rock strut like a ravenous piranha. Fans of Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Strokes, Beatles and Foo Fighters will definitely find something tasty here!

Rubble Road – The Clowns Have Spoken

Listen to The Clowns Have Spoken and you will suddenly have the urge to hit the bourbon bottle hard and the road even harder; off chasing weird and twisted nights with the three-piece (or quartet?) Rubble Road on your backseat shouting about Truck Stop Hookers and Galactic Fugitives. And all this while they’re also brewing their own beer. And you know what we always say, good people drink good beer. Get on the Rubble Road, drink heavy and ride hard!

Ben Hughes – Rejecting The Machine

Ending on a Lo-Fi-High note! Rejecting The Machine is the first single promoting his one man project that will soon release a complete effort entitled Cycles of the Psyche. It’s Ben Hughes and the multi instrumentalist runs the gamut of all sorts of Lo-Fi psychedelic goodness. It seems to be a follow-up to a the more earthy approach of his Reflection EP released earlier this year. All in all, the music all have this secretive sound and makes you want to learn more about its magic. Stay tuned!

O'no... Hold on... Wait... Wait... Here's the new Triggerfinger single: Colossus!
