Monster Truck – True Rockers

Monster Truck – True Rockers
Mascot / Bertus – 2018
Rock, Hard, Blues, Southern
Rated: ****

Monster Truck, we love ‘em. We dug their Furiosity album back in 2013 and we dug Sittin’ Heavy from 2016. And now they’re back with True Rockers. Another album filled with eleven straight up, no nonsense, fists up in the air, balls out, hard rockin, fast truckin, beer guzzling, foot stompin heavy tracks! The best thing about this new album is the high energy and crazy adrenaline coursing through the songs. Which might be due to the fact that most of the album was written while on the road, making absolute sure that they were able to catch that live spirit, that excitement and that wild enthusiasm. There is nothing new under the sun and Monster Truck’s new album is a testament to the fact that we do need anything new. We just need our very religious odes, our praise and our devotion to the love we all share for unadulterated rock n roll!

Monster Truck – Sittin’ Heavy

Monster Truck – Sittin’ Heavy
Mascot – 2016
Rock, Hard, Stoner, Southern
Rated: ****

Ever since they ran me over with their debut album Furiosity back in 2013 I’ve had a particular love for that Canadian quartet called Monster Truck. It’s one of those infatuations that stem from the obvious. Just like their name. You know you’re in for a good ol’ time when you hear a bandname like Monster Truck. No nonsense, straight up bourbon, beer guzzling good ol’ time. Its low hung, down tuned guitars, growling vocals and truckin’ tempos that you expect from a band like Monster Truck, and they delivered that laced with pure gold on that damn fine debut album. And now, two years later, they return to deliver the good stuff once again. It is the dead of winter over here, but when Sittin’ Heavy started its rotation I pulled the barbecue out of the shed and raced through my fridge full of imported brews. Damn, these guys know how to show you a good time and damn it sounds like they had a great time themselves when they recorded this record. Snarling and grating and pounding and stomping and sometimes taking the clean road when the dirty path seems to full of misers and all of that within an amazing array of top quality songs. There is not one that blunders. Even if, lyrically, they do choose the easy road here and there. Shit, but when you’re on the straight line, you can just as easily crack open a beer, put your feed up and steer the truck with your heels! Sittin’ pretty!
