Following up on their self-titled album after some seven years… Ancestro returns from the volcanic depths of Trujillo, Peru with En Ruinas, a monumental instrumental voyage through towering riffs, shifting landscapes, volatile shapes and echoes of a world in transformation. Their fourth full sized offering since 2016, it rises like a forgotten monument, a pillar of ancestral melodies, reclaimed by time, carrying all that weight of the past, while searching for new horizons… 

With the relentless force of a slow moving storm, En Ruinas builds on foundations of stoner, doom and heavy psychedelic traditions. Crushing guitar lines, hypnotic rhythms and vast atmospheric passages whirl around each other to create a shrine of sound that feels ancient and otherworldly. From the persistent pulse of the title track to the immersive journeys of Status Quo, 13001, Wachuma, Andante and that final beautiful send off called Mar Desierto, Ancestro cherish where they come from and reveal to be a band that is expanding its sonic universe. 

And En Ruinas captures that spirit of a band, a landscape and an idea that is forever changing, turning the expedition through all this into a dusty cinematic expedition. Heavy yet hopeful, mysterious and inviting, it stands tall, and proud as  Ancestro’s most powerful and adventurious chapters.
