Blackmail Damage – Damaged Demos
Self-released – 2026
Rock, Punk, Noise, Garage
Rated: ****
This two piece from Houston, Texas delivered their Damaged Demos album with wild abandon and furious energy. It’s punky, it’s noisy and it’s hot! The duo is called Blackmail Damage and the album sports eight tracks that embrace the lo-fi ecstatics and ramps that up with all the garage powered electricity they could muster…
Guitar plugged in, drummer hyped up. Kamikaze! Let’s Go! Brutally loud, fuzz-saturated and constantly aiming to erupt violence within you. Recording these tracks made the floorboards nervous and the walls giddy. Shit, is constantly on the verge of exploding. Guitars snarls and cut, they sting through all the layers of fuzz, feedback and broken-sounding electronics. Drums pound, stumble and explode beneath it all. Riffs erupt suddenly from the wreckage, only to warp, dissolve and crawl to somewhere much much darker. Nothing is clean and nothing is contained. Fly my lovely’s, fly my wild and uncivilized notes and rhythms.
It’s hot in here. Sweat dripping from the ceiling, the noise rock, short ditty or more post rock influences and everything messy and captured. Cause every time the lovely’s wanted to fly, they realized they wanted to stay and be part of this beautiful mess. Live tracks, rehearsal room madness. These are no recordings. This is an outer body experience looking down on a crazy duo going absolutely insane!
