Another week has started! We were out of bounce for (only) a couple of days, returning to an email box filled with another 150 Promo emails! And we will surely try to start mentioning some of those and older ones soon. This week though will be a tough one again for Stoner HiVe work, heading off to Amsterdamn for an interview on Thursday and doing Dynamo Metal Fest as of Friday. But who knows, a might have a few hours in the evening the next few days left! If not there are always last weeks posts, if you haven’t read those yet? Right? I mean that new Howling Giant single is stunning! And Ronny Dijksterhuis’s blurb about Kombynat Robotron should definitely entice you to have that one on repeat. And it’s not out yet, but the new Bask album The Turning, will surely turn some heads! Or better yet, all heads! Last week the new July Doom Charts went live, an incredible list with new albums, all worth your time. And on Stoner HiVe we premiered the new Superseed single and wrote a few words about their new album Tremor. Published a few words about Phantom Spell and Adjustable Mustard. And lets not forget that awesome festival, happening in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, September 27th : Into The Void! We know. We normally publish this on Monday. But I returned from London late and we had other pressing engagements. As we will continue to have for a while longer. But here’s another quick Top 5 of albums we listened to the most last week. The Ain-Soph Aur album by In The Company of Serpents has been on heavy rotation. The doom duo delivers in again in a fine scratchy and grimy noir vibe. Stoner fused with doom, metal, hardrock and a stylistic funnel vision; that’s what the new album Green from Mage is all about. Emperor Guillotine comes from down deep in the heart of Texas. The southern vibe perhaps is felt through its punky influences, but otherwise the self-titled is filled with doom metal and feels dark. Mutautu is the fuzzy blues we need, we want and we love! As you perhaps have read in the Quick Fire Friday section of last Friday. Orango has been with me ever since discovering the Something Good EP back around 2002 and their tiny connection to the Madrugada family tree. Well, they’re back with a new album, Mules of Nana. Heavy blues, southern vistas and wild soulful almost folky atmospheres. A pure classic!
