Looking for some doom tainted heavy burdened, slow trotting sludge? Take a look in the town of Avignon in the south of France. They do not only host a spectacular festival for street artists; they also house one of the heaviest bands from Europe to emerge of late: Mudbath. The drums dragging the steady march forward like a dying animal and a bass that seems to devour the listener whole. Screams, shrieks and roars that make your soul howl out in fear and guitars that among the crushing riffs and dirty layers seem to provide the only small glimmer of light at the horizon. The Red Desert Orgy EP is bleak, dark and twisted with just that tiny tingle of hope that makes it all bearable. In fact; it makes you want to enjoy that steamy, muddy and vaporous earthquake over and over.
Indeed, I feel like walking around with a grocery bag with dead animals and oranges now. It seems like the only right thing to do. Lovely!
