The Doom Chart for November 2019

Doom Charts

“Did you know that there’s an acceptable level of rat turds that can go into candy bars? It’s the government, jack. Even government doesn’t care that much about quality. You know what is okay to put in hot dogs? Huh? Pig lips and assholes. But I say, hey, have at it bitches ’cause I love hot dogs.”  ~ Jesse Pinkman

Well hot dog we’re back with another round of ear candy, giving you 30 of the most popular albums within the heavy underground, voted on by the Contributors listed at the bottom of the page. If the government doesn’t care about quality of candy bars or hot dogs, it certainly lacks an interest in the underground stoner / doom scene, and that’s fine by us. What we lack in sales we make up for in quality and integrity. The November Charts bring us one month closer to the end of a decade, which will go down in the books as a quintessential period of hard and heavy music…

Right on Bucky! That’s very very very true! The HiVe has been around for that decade and has loved every heavy minute of it. All those albums we heard upon release, the ones we mentioned and the ones we discovered much later. Exactly 292 different albums got voted for this month and we mention the top 30 of those. Age of Aquarius by Villagers Of Ioannina City, a favorite among the HiVe crew and especially Doktor420, just missed it on the 31st spot. And Kreuzung by Mammoth Mammoth which we mentioned last week was 32nd. Just think of all the albums way down on the list. Someone is still very much digging it. Some of which might climb next month because they have not yet been heard by everyone. Some are still being voted for by someone still so much in love with an album from a few months ago. And some speak to even a smaller niche within the Heavy Underground that it might never rise to make the end list. What will be the fate for Demons From The Deep by Zivatar for instance? Which we find down where only one or two contributors voted for them. I for one had not yet heard it. Or The Whole Of Each Eye by Abronia? Both completely different and both damn fine albums… No rat turds… Anywhere on the entire list…

Welcome to Doom Charts, representing some of the finest bloggers, journalists, radio, podcasters and album reviewers from the heavy underground around the globe.  Each month, our critics submit their picks for the best new doom, sludge metal, stoner-psychedelic and heavy rock albums.  The results are compiled and tabulated into the chart below.  This is a one-stop shop for the best new albums in the world…
