Hostile Tides – Dead Man Talking

Hostile Tides – Dead Man Talking
Self-released – 2026
Stoner, Metal, Punk, Prog, Instrumental
Rated: ***

You want it underground? Heavy underground? You want stoner, metal, punk and prog all mixed into one blissful release? Then go listen to five track Dead Man Talking by Kent, England quartet Hostile Tides. Love the band name. Active since 2024. Instrumental, except for the second track Rumour, which could become the rowdy live track Twenty was to Karma To Burn…

It was recorded Squarehead Studios, but has the feel of an album that was recorded at the final petrol station before all the roads end, the pavement stops and the end of the road is actually a place on the map. Five tracks, filled with fuzz heavy guitars, filthy bass work and thunderous drums. All of it sneaks and crawls through stoner and metal, punk and prog, leaving room for hypnotic grooves and full blown sonic derailments.

A grimy, intensely cinematic quality seems to be powering the whole thing. A lost soundtrack to a film nobody should have made. The soundtrack remains and becomes this entity on its own. Just listen to Pyramids and you will understand immediately how everything becomes its own thing with Hostile Tides at the helm. Rough edged, atmospheric by default, completely unpredictable and this is just a first release… Hostile Tides are warming up!
