Moon Destroys – Omni
Blues Funeral Recordings – 2026
Rock, Stoner, Psych, Grunge
Rated: ****
Moon Destroys’ Omni is a head-first plunge into a swirling vortex of crushing riffs, psychedelic haze and dangerously infectious melodies. And all of those Doom Charts writers that wrote about it on the September issue and it’s Peroration were absolutely right. Omni is beautiful! Building on She Walks By Moonlight, the band sharpen their songwriting without sacrificing the sprawling atmosphere that makes their sound so intoxicating. Juan Montoya’s colossal riffs rumble like machinery from the bowels of the earth, Evan Diprima's drums powers the vortex ever forward, while Zach Amster’s melodic, emotionally charged vocals cut through the distortion like a flare in the night sky. Tracks like Invasion, Flowers and Motion Sickness burrow into your skull, their hooks lurking beneath layers of fuzz and hypnotic rhythms. Meanwhile, Lost Hearts offers a brief escape from the sonic onslaught, drifting into a weightless, dreamlike haze. Does the fog ever dissipate, no! But through it all, eyes closed, Omni becomes one hell of ride. Dangerous by default, heavy without suffocating and dreamy without losing any of its bite! Omni is what happens when you set the spinning wheel on fire!
