Courtesy of our in house poet: Ronny Dijksterhuis.Slinging his words with precision and honor he is here to show you the way through some seriously underground cul de sac's! Presented below are ten glorious singles and EP's all worth every second of your time... Ronny Dijksterhuis knows the deal! And you know what that means...
Things will get hot and heavy from here on in!
For those of you who are still in WC football detox mode, we present
you a full heavy underground team of top-notch players who would've left
the eventual champions stranded in the middle of the Arizona desert
with ease. No Philadelphia highlights, no unwanted halftime show and no
hydration breaks, especially not in the desert where lots of our stars
bloom in the best way possible, kicking up dust and eating cacti for
breakfast, lunch and dinner while gulping sand like it's some kind of
high quality Belgian beer. Yes, it's Quick Fire Friday again with not 8, not
9, not 10, but a once in a lifetime 11 (relatively) new singles and EP's
we here and Stoner Hive think you all should check out to conquer the
blistering heat of summer. Concentrating on Travo from Braga, Portugal
seems like the perfect way to start this exercise.
Travo - Burial
'Burial' is the first appetiser from Travo's upcoming album 'Wasteland' that will see the light of day on October 2nd. It's a loud, thunderous and abrasive take on heavy psych with thick riffs, a monstrous rhythm section and an overdose of psychedelic goodness that blows you way back in your seat, waiting for that glorious moment to arrive when the sound barrier is being smashed to smithereens.
30,000 Monkies - Prism Break / Super Rebound
30,000 Monkies from Beringen, Belgium are making sure you will all mark September 18th on you Calendar with a big red dot. Because the two songs they released so far from their upcoming album 'Super Rebound' (the title track and 'Prism Break') are a perfect example of technical, repetitive, experimental metal with lots of punch and more than enough variation and subtle shifts to keep your ears glued to the speakers of your sound system, taking the risk of permanent hearing damage for granted. An aggressive, blunt, in your face slab of metal that might best be described as Meshuggah on a doubled dose of steroids, but with an identity all its own.

Arcane Montane - Around The Sun
'Around The Sun' is the second single from the self-tiled debut album by Arcane Montane, scheduled for release on September 26th. It's a scorching mix of seventies hardrock, stoner and NWOBHM displaying great musicianship and a singer with a clean, powerful voice and little roughness somewhere hidden underneath. Or as the band states on their website: "Arcane Montane deliver the all out power, groove, intensity and presence of Ozzy riding bareback through the desert on a water buffalo." Hop on the beast and enjoy the ride!
Terra Black - In Stone
Terra Black are preparing to unleash their new album 'Mirage' somewhere in the middle of September. 'In Stone' is the first glimpse and starts with a simple, yet effective bass line that immediately sucks you into a somewhat eerie atmosphere. It can be described as slowed-down stoner, bordering on doom, draped with a nice occult-like veil where every ingredient is exactly where it should be. No unnecessary show-offs, but one tight unit moving forward in unison with the sole purpose of giving this fantastic song all the room it needs to breathe, while the intertwining male and female vocals add another layer of mysticism.
Suecide High - Feel the Flames
Suecide High produces infectious, high octane rawk 'n' roll mixed with powerful stoner on 'Feel the Flames'. It's not entirely representative of their upcoming debut 'Chaos Has Its Charm', as it appears to be the heaviest and sleaziest song on the album, but judging by the sample previews of all the other songs, we're in for one hell of a good rocking one come October 9th.

Sun Voyager - Coming Down
Ready for some psychedelic stoner, packed inside a three minute song? Well, in that case you can turn to Sun Voyager to fulfil your appetite. Not for destruction, but for a speed course in astral exploration by way of a scorching hot desert. Start blasting their new single 'Coming Down' and you'll get the drift.
Evil Eye - Under a Sabbath Moon
Back in May 2025 Evil Eye released their debut album 'Wizard War I'. Now they're back with a new single 'Under a Sabbath Moon' that is packed with Sabbathian riffs and lots of fuzzy goodness. If that ain't enough, there's a second song called 'High Atop the Mountain at Dawn (Dreaming of the Sea)' that follows the same recipe without sounding anywhere near the the same as 'Under a Sabbath Moon'. Together they clock in at about 16 minutes. It doesn't matter whether you call it a single b/w or a two track EP, because it's fucking great and a significant step forward from their first full length. Really looking forward to what they'll come up with in the future.
Tomb - Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth
With this release there's no discussion possible about the format. This is an EP. Period. Hailing from Roanoke, VA, Tomb are hovering above you like a swarm of giant deadly wasps - the kind you would encounter in old-fashioned horror movies - ready to confront you with your own mortality. Be it crushing stoner ('Heavy Glow'), bulldozer-style doom ('Frail'), something in between ('Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth') or danceable melodic stoner ('Thunderverb (Cosmic Eye)'), the bullseye is being hit every time with pounding drums, thriving bass and soaring guitars with a mixture of very strong clean vocals and nasty growls that reside somewhere between hardcore, sludge and black metal.
Phoxxxy Grama - The Sneak Attack Sessions
After so much regular stoner, doom and rock, it's time for a little sidestep. Not in power and intensity, but in the kind of music being made. Phoxxxy Grama's sound is basically a combination of melodic noise, alternative rock, grunge and a tiny bit of stoner, packed in first class songs and containing a wildfire of unexpected (and unexpectedly diverse) lead guitar shenanigans. Hope some of you will dig it too.
Witchthroat Serpent - Cursed Night Circle
A couple of days ago Heavy Psych Sounds announced they'll be releasing a new album from contemporary doom legends Witchthroat Serpent on October 9th, titled 'Demons Left to Roam', Along with that announcement opening track 'Cursed Night Circle' was being presented as a preview. After a one minute spoken intro the track unfolds itself as a primary example of traditional doom. Slow to mid-tempo grooves with a slightly haunting quality, exactly the right amount of fuzz, a good vocal delivery and a steady base of bass and drums. In other words: everything you gloom-filled heart needs to lift the spirit even lower. Great stuff.
