They know. You know. Cause I’ve been more than obvious and upfront about it from the get-go, I adore the sound, the atmosphere and the artistry behind all Ealdor Bealu does. And on their Ripple Music debut Graves Of The Silent Plain they’ve continued to evolve and produce grandiose music. And that is probably one hell of an understatement. From the haunting landscapes of Dark Water At The Foot Of The Mountain, through the colorful currents of Spirit Of The Lonely Places and the tranquil grandeur of Psychic FormsEaldor Bealu have steadily carved out a place entirely their own…

Graves Of The Silent Plain is different. Once again. Not another ascent, but more a crossing. For beyond all the familiar ridgelines of Ealdor Bealu’s earlier music lies a harsher country, less forgiving. Where the sky hangs vast and indifferent, and every mile is measured in dust, silence and weathered stone. Sure, the sweeping atmospheres endure, this is their blood. As do the progressive currents, it is their sweat. And the ghost of the American west, for that is their soul. Yet, much of the psychedelic mist has been carried away by a dry and unrelenting wind. What remains though, is elemental in every sense of the word.

Drawn, colored and stained by the elements. Guitars ring with the grit, the grain of sun-bleached timber and iron. The melodies move and sway with quiet purpose. And the beautiful almost ethereal voices drift above the sound and the earth only to be answered by harsher howls rising from some deep and dark depth. And nothing, ever or anywhere, feels hurried. Every note seems to settle like dust upon the plain and every silence wants to stretch out towards the endless horizon…

Battered, worn, rusted, lived and surviving. Where earlier albums seemed to wander through landscapes barely touched. Graves Of The Silent Plain is walking, meandering, lingering among the remnants. Content to stand among the bones of the land itself, listening to all the stories the wind refused to carry away. It is the musical equivalent of time. Graves Of The Silent Plain seems to be time itself, sand slowly trickling down, every sharp edge worn away and as you breathe along, you will find that memory itself has become part of the terrain. I always wonder after another wild Ealdor Bealu album where they will go next, this time around I simply hope, with all my heart, they will turn the hourglass the other way around again and keep strolling about the Graves Of The Silent Plain to capture more of those stories that refused to die…
