Doom Charts
“I leave Sisyphus at the foot of the mountain. One always finds one’s burden again. But Sisyphus teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks. He too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforth without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile. Each atom of that stone, each mineral flake of that night-filled mountain, in itself, forms a world. The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man’s heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.”
~ Albert Camus
Welcome to the March 2023 Doom Charts! Brought to you by an every
growing and ever changing collective of heavy rock loving crazies!
Indeed, a love so big and so intense, it often seems to border on
insanity. That’s why we pride ourselves on the fact that we are still
able to rope in new members to the team and understand when some of the
Contributors need a break. Cause, personally, my list of absolute
favorite albums for this March edition, held almost 60 albums, which had
to be whittled down to the 25 we are allowed to send in. And I’m sure
that a lot of the Contributors had the same luxury problem of way too
many amazing albums heard. And I am also sure, because the total list
for this month had no less than 343 albums on it! That’s 343
heavy rock, doom, stoner, sludge, psych albums that marinate in the
heavy underground, released in March! Sure, a few will have been
released in February or April. But that is an insane number of albums
and that’s why I’m damn proud of all the Contributors. They listen to so
many records, so much heavy stuff, write about it on their personal
blogs, zines and podcasts and then manage to find the time to send their
list in for the Doom Charts. We can thank them enough! The end result, ‘a one-stop shop for the best new heavy albums in the world’. And with the collective still growing, this is truer with every issue online… Cause we all know, good doom… Rolls up hill!
Rollin' rollin' rollin'! The March 2023 Doom Charts are live! 39 spanking new albums this month... And that out of a total of 343 albums that received votes! Insanity! And Acid King's Beyond Vision, reviewed here in February, takes the Number 1 spot. Number 96 on the Billboard Top 100, and Number 1 on the Doom Charts!
Of the 40 that made it, personal votes went out to : Acid King, REZN, CHILD, Witch Ripper, Isaak, Stoned Jesus, Håndgemeng, WyndRider, Desert Storm, Santo Rostro, L'Ira Del Baccano, Sandrider, New Mexican Doom Cult, Mount Atlas, Heezer, Crown Lands, FATSO JETSON & Dali's Llama...
But as usual, could have voted for all of them! Cause they all rock insanely hard! Check'm out, check'm all out!
