It’s 2022 everywhere in the world, darkness in the form of all sorts of impending doom surrounds us all. But only in Gijón, Spain, we can celebrate the coming of an album that might blow all of that to smithereens. For after no less than eleven years, the boys from Doctor Explosion have found the time to record and release a new album called Superioridad Moral. Their hard as nails, bang on the can, garage rocking punk and punk rocking garage sound is back with a vengeance! Here to show the squares some class, where the fuck it’s all at and how the beat goes on. It’s beat music for the surf poets, mystic psychedelic atmospheres for the rebels and wild call to arms for the guerrillas. Ten powerful new tracks to herald the coming of a new superior moral and to make fun of it all. Sure, it is rebellious, but only to an extent you can enjoy it. And enjoy it you shall! For their eleventh album sounds like their most mature, best produced and most, cough, mainstream record to date. Highly influenced by sixties psych, and the rock from that era, the album starts of properly with great drumwork and smashing riffs on that first track Insatisfacción. The Spanish vocals rev you up and heats your blood to the right temperature. No standing still for sure. It even sounds like there is a stonerrock desert wind whispering through the air. And where second track Vestir De Mujer, slows down considerably, El Día Que David Bowie Murió that follows, ups the tempo back to the original blast off. Giving away, what kind of an eb and flow the four from Doctor Explosion are opting for. They keep this faster paced and slower songs trade-off going till Apego Evitativo, which keeps the energy up and the momentum going full speed. And although eight track Acidez, is slower and Mi Lista De Cosas Que Hacer as well, it really grinds full stop with final track Paleto (They Call Me Country). This Spanish version of Sanford Clark’s The Call Me Country, is truly Paleto, is yokel country, Americana done the Doctor Explosion way. Especially when they hit that raw and rocking twang. Superioridad Moral, superior garage and absolutely enchanting! Can't get enough of it!
