Fura – Fura
Self released – 2013
Rock, Post, Instrumental, Math
Rated: ***
Now that Catalunya is on the verge of breaking with the rest of Spain there is a need for a musical battle cry. For notes and melodies that incite riot and cause the blood to boil and call out to storm the gates and for the new flag to be waved. And even though the music of Fura is proud and full of restless calm it shall not be played during the revolution. For their self-titled full-sized album preaches peace and tranquil slumber with only the occasional nervous twitch. It constructs cathedrals of sound that causes your head to bow in submission. It paints pictures of landscapes filled with mountains and inspires the imagination to grow bold. Impressive structures rise up as the drums and rhythms drive the songs in highly different energies. And the guitar does the rest. It stripes with ease; it colors something serene or just brushes something wild. Fura battles with these ideas; and only nudges the listener in a certain direction. The rest if up to you.
