By some form of ancient disembodied voice from a distant past we are sucked into the music the Austrian born Daishi delivers on their 2011 record La Boom. Started as a trio around Salzburg in 2005 it evolved over the years into a heavy rocking quartet that translates universal truths into a majestic symphony. From subtle tone experiments and lazy rhythms to sincere rock explosions and metal salvos. And like those casual sound shifts, like the endless and slow move of the earth’s plates, the vocals also move very subtle from that disembodied start to full power to gritty and fierce. Six songs lasting thirty minutes show us a band that philosophizes and knows how to interpret that wisdom for a modern age. And above all it shows us proficiency and a very eclectic mindset. We bow our head for Grand Master Daishi… (That’s a contamination, you muppet!)
