The Swedes from Kraken got together in the summer of 2010 to do some heavy rocking and space jamming. But three of them already knew each other from bands such as White Haze, Heavy Friends and Kaukasus. And after one year of constant playing and sending demo’s through the internet to each other to work on they released their first demo EP last year called Demon In The Barn. It’s another one of those pure retro diamonds. Invoking the spirit of Witchcraft, Black Sabbath and Pentagram. It falls neatly in line with other releases from 2011, keeping it more lo-fi than Graveyard and less upbeat as Lonely Kamel; making it stand out just as much as those bands did. With a perfect balance between tight riffs that sound fresh and an absolute swinging bass they have produced seven tracks that are mesmeric and border on epic. And then there are the, from time to time, slightly off key, out of tune and therefor brilliant and enchanting vocals; which gives it even more authenticity. This needs vinyl… And fast!
