Who’s gonna be the GOAT? Their first four track EP Nocturnal Harvest was released in 2017 and before that time we’ve heard whispers and rumors Gamma Goat started out as a cover band. If Nocturnal Harvest already showed us what the four from Gilman, Illinois where capable of, the new 8 track release Interlude will only cement that! For Gamma Goat is a true full-blown hybrid, using a massive amount of stoner and sludge metal to give their grunge an extra level of kick. And then there’s that doom edge to give it some serious gut punch effect and some alternative nineties to make it all soar as high as they can possibly go. Their ‘Scrap Metal’ as they like to call it, sits right there in the middle of all that, and laps it up, drinks it up and you will enjoy every minute of it. And Interlude is only a connecting piece apparently, ‘a connecting piece between our first EP, Nocturnal Harvest, and our next album, The Motherhell. Marking a sizeable step in the direction of sludge/doom, with one foot still planted in our grungy stoner origins.’ Well, let’s hope they do not throw all of that grunge overboard, cause it suits Gamma Goat! And yes, it’s good, it’s great, and for quite a few listeners this will surely be the GOAT!
