It’s been seven long years since the release of their third album Raise The Veil and now we can finally feast our ears on Number 4, named Back Into The Light! We’re talking about those French crazies named ZOE! The Calais (& Lille) quartet give us ten tracks of high spirited, high energy, gritty rock ‘n roll! Once again produced by Olivier T'Servrancx (Lumberjack Feedback, Black Bomb A) and mastered by Göran Finnberg, (In Flames, Glowsun, Opeth, Meshuggah) the Back Into The Light record continues on where Raise The Veil left off. And once again the level of commitment and urgency seems to make the four larger than life. The sound is big, the songs are bad ass mean and the four are on top of their game. Hardrock is their trade, stonerrock their profession and speedy fun their adagio. And then they change it up with a bit more seventies touches, bluesy influences or incredibly addictive riffs. One of the reasons for the long wait was the search for a new and similar minded bass-player that could deliver the groove as good as the chug. Well, Clément seems like a perfect fit, to judge by all those majestic bass lines; and go hear that filthy rumble in the fifth track Go Like A Bomb. Which we are treated to on occasion later on as well. Man! Woman! Brother! Sister! ZOE, is Back Into The Light and is still a dirty little sister!

O’ and the cover image, already very good as it is, it is different and even better on the actual cd!
