Starting out as a slow-moving doom avalanche the opening track Grito El Indio comes across as a sparsely and carefully composed soundtrack for an arduous trek through a sandy wasteland, where thirst and hunger induced hallucinations will make you see female apparitions move like wraiths and make ghostly noises before an eerie little laugh sends shivers up your spine and somewhere in the back of your mind you hear someone or something calling you… It’s the opening track of debut album Destierro y Siembra by Argentinian duo Les Nadie. An album so meticulously crafted, audible in every little nook and cranny of each song; that one must suspect the duo actually being the product of one man’s demented and deranged little mind. Those little ethereal almost ritualist touches that howl across the compositions like a mad wolf on the prowl. Or that vaporous ending track Venenauta, where you seem to have accepted your fate and you give in; and let your life slowly drain away. Poisoned, and no medicine to stop it. Throughout the album you hear that fatalistic atmosphere; even in the much lighter sounding fourth track Helledén; which gets lifted by the soothing vocals. Soothing in color and tone, but you can feel the brooding underneath. Or the labyrinth that is Babas d’allah; immersing you ever deeper into their heavy, charged and hallucinogenic universe. Destierro y Siembra is an amazing debut album, that paints you cloudy skies where the rain goes up again and where the moon disappears in the middle of the night. And even though you hear Les Nadie wants to let it all fall down; it remains… Taunting…
