Mudbath – Corrado Zeller
Lost Pilgrims/Grains Of Sand/Désordre Ordonné – 2014
Doom, Metal, Sludge, Core
Rated: ***
Desolate landscapes full of droning doom metal and core echoes that have been resonating for eternity on this lonely battlefield of dismay. It is the new album Corrado Zeller by French quartet Mudbath and it is as heavy and dark as they come. As heavy as their 2012 release Red Desert Orgy and probably heavier! Black metal shivers with post tremors and melodic quakes rumble through their universe. It creates an uneasy atmosphere and has your skin crawling. Oppressive and depressive and highly expressive. But most of all: massive. Like a landslide from a mountain of bones it buries you beneath the absolute stunning wall of sound. And there is no way to catch your breath, as the machine just keeps on plowing and plowing and mashing and gnashing. There is no escape from Mudbath. They smother and scare the living daylights out of you…
