Samavayo - Songs for the Iranian People

I was lucky enough to see Samavayo a few weeks ago during one of those amazing Club Void nights in the Effenaar in Eindhoven. And two of the tracks they performed during that night had vocals in the Persian or Farsi language. The language of Iran. And those two tracks mesmerized and enchanted the most. The way vocalist Behrang Alavi lived within those words and the way the lines, even if one could not understand them, felt like beautiful poetry and struck a chord within the heart of all who were present. He gave a little speech about Iran, the fight for human rights, women’s rights and the daily struggles people all have to go through… And received a wave of applause…

And now, they’ve released all their Persian songs, from all their albums, the two from the new Payan album and the three from earlier albums on a digital release. And all revenue from this five-track release will go straight to the women fighting for their rights in Iran. Head on over to their bandcamp for great music and righteous cause…
